Sydney is open! And what better way to kickstart summer than with the ultimate Sydney outdoor dining experience. Sydney’s Open for Lunch invites everyone to take a seat at one of our delicious long lunches across the city on Friday December 3. The event welcomes guests to reconnect socially, taste innovative food from top chefs, listen to live music and soak up our incredible Sydney vibe.  

There are various luncheon events planned across several precincts in Sydney CBD, South Eveleigh, Parramatta, Chinatown and Barangaroo. The unmissable event will give a much-needed boost to Sydney’s hospitality industry and inspire everyone to rediscover Sydney’s favourite spaces. Sydney truly is Australia’s global city and arguably the nation’s culinary capital – now is the perfect time to show the world how Sydney does lunch.  

Parramatta Square’s Long Lunch | Friday 3 December 12-3pm 

In Western Sydney’s newest foodie precinct, Parramatta Square, Sydney’s Open for Lunch will host a unique food and music mash up. With a soundscape of chilled out grooves, guests will be treated to a three-course lunch from one of three partnering restaurants: CicciaBella, LILYMU or Ruse Bar & Brasserie.   

What’s on the menu? Choose three courses from Italian trattoria CicciaBella; European-inspired grill Ruse Bar & Brasserie; or modern Asian fusion from LILYMU. Soft drinks are included in the ticket price, with alcohol available for purchase. 

Entertainment: Settle in for a smooth soundscape of chilled beats from renowned indie, RnB collective Winston Surfshirt (DJ set), genre defining RnB star Milan Ring and soulful RnB hip-hop artist Nardean.

Long Lunches & Late Nights @ YCK | Friday December 3, 12-2.30pm or 3-5.30pm 

In the lively laneways off York, Clarence and Kent Streets, a.k.a. YCK Laneways, settle in for a long lunch among some of the sweetest small bars in the city as part of the inaugural event series Long Lunches & Late Nights @ YCK. The unmissable, signature event is Prince of York’s Long Lunch at Barrack Street with 11 modern Australian dishes with a Japanese influence. Settle in for this innovative lunch with a cocktail in hand and listen to live performances of fresh new sounds. 

What’s on the menu? This progressive dining experience has a selection of Japanese-influenced Australian dishes, each designed to be shared between four people. Expect to dig into fresh bread with miso and yuzu butter, coral trout sashimi, wagyu sirloin with wasabi, and salted miso caramel chocolate tart. 

Entertainment: There’s a huge variety of performances at YCK throughout this event series. Spawn Point will host a micro dance party with some of the best DJs in Sydney. At Stitch, the lively Mariachi band will be on stage, and over at Swinging Cat, listen to the five-piece jazz band The Sazeracs, from 6-10pm. The Lobo will pump out the sounds of the Caribbean, Grandma’s Bar will welcome local soloist Dom Diaz, while Uncle Ming’s will have their resident blues duo.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind culinary adventure as Sydney’s Open for Lunch takes over George Street in the heart of the city. Guest will enjoy a welcome drink then be seated at an Insta-worthy long table to tuck into a collaborative menu devised by Sydney food heroes, Luke Mangan (Hilton’s Glass Brasserie); Mike McEnearney (Kitchen by Mike); Palisa Anderson (Chat Thai); and Mikey Nicolian (Continental Delicatessen).  

What’s on the menu? Start with a charcuterie board from Porteño, a main devised by Palisa Anderson and Mike McEnearney with fresh ingredients from Palisa’s Boon Luck Farm, and finish with a decadent dessert designed by Luke Mangan. 

Entertainment: The George Street line up boasts the George Ellis 24-piece orchestra featuring Josh Pyke, George Maple, Brendan Maclean and Liyah Knight; along with DJ Klevakutz; the 16-piece Hot Potato Brass Brand; and a surprise guest.

South Eveleigh Alfresco Disco | Friday December 3, 12-3pm or 6-9pm 

Sydney’s right-now dining precinct, South Eveleigh’s Innovation Plaza in Locomotive Street will be transformed into a vibey one-day food, drink and music pop-up on 3 December. Two of Sydney’s defining forces in dining and drinking, Kylie Kwong (Lucky Kwong) and Matt Whiley (Re Bar) will join forces to deliver a tempting combination of nourishing noodles and signature cocktails for both lunch and dinner. South Eveleigh is thrilled to invite locals, food lovers and visitors back after months of lockdown. 

What’s on the menu? Imagine Kylie Kwong’s signature style of Cantonese-Australian street food from her sustainable and collaborative new venture, Lucky Kwong, matched with an exclusive cocktail from zero-waste bar, Re.
