Chad Reed To Bring Star Power to WIN Stadium Wollongong for Round 3 Of Australian Supercross Championship
As the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship goes from strength to strength, the third round at WIN Stadium in Wollongong will be further boosted with the latest inclusion of two-time world Supercross Champion, Chad Reed, returning to support the event and series as an ambassador.
The Australian supercross legend will be joined by his family in Wollongong, including 14-year-old son Tate, who will compete in all five championship rounds. The father-son duo will bring their on-track dynamic to life, with Chad coaching Tate, in what he sees as a unique junior racing series found only in Australia.
The Reeds' involvement reflects the Championship's progression and the sport's growing presence in Australia, as well as the broader momentum within the supercross community.
“I’m stoked to be involved again with the Australian Supercross Championship,” said Reed.
“Racing in Australia will always be close to my heart and it's awesome to see supercross booming here again. It's an exciting time for the sport and our family is stoked to be getting around the series this season and returning to Wollongong, is going to be huge for the locals there.
The 2024 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in over 10 years, with big name international riders now starting to make the Australian series a priority. I’m excited to get there and see how it unfolds.”
Tate Reed will continue to build on his own racing career riding in all five rounds of the championship in the 85cc class, after making his supercross debut at Newcastle last year with his famous Dad by his side.
“The Australian series is unique to anywhere else in the world as they offer young riders in the 85cc & SX3 classes the chance to be part of an elite domestic series, it’s a great opportunity for him.
“I’m a big fan of the aspirational moments it can offer along with the pressure and learnings that come with it. The junior talent in Australia is impressive so I know it’s going to be a competitive series for Tate and to bring Supercross back to an iconic location like WIN Stadium, means the fans are going to be in for a treat awesome night.”
As an ambassador, Reed will also be involved in a once-in-a-lifetime competition for ticket purchasers at the Wollongong round, launching today, Tuesday 10th September.
In a salute to the famous 22 race number, 22 attendees will have the chance to not only meet the Australian supercross legend but win the ultimate trackside experience at WIN Stadium. The lucky winners will have their tickets upgraded, receive signed merchandise, guided track access for the Opening Ceremony alongside the man himself, Chad Reed.
The Fox Australian Supercross Championship is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
