CULT BONDI SANDWICH SPOT S’WICH OPENS IN SYDNEY’S MOST DYNAMIC CULTURAL HOTSPOT, WUNDERLICH LANE
S’WICH - Bondi’s cult sandwich, salad and sips spot - is opening in Redfern’s dynamic new cultural precinct, Wunderlich Lane, on Friday 6 June.
Founded by friends Jay Fink and Jordan Abram, S’WICH has earned a loyal following for turning the humble sandwich into a crave-worthy ritual. Now, the Bondi-born brand is expanding beyond the beach, bringing its signature energy to one of Sydney’s most exciting new food and culture destinations.
The Surry Hills new outpost, S’WICH, will serve lunch, dinner and everything in between, marking a bold new chapter for a brand that’s built its reputation on flavour, fun and a seriously good sandwich with quality at its core.
To celebrate the opening weekend, the first 50 customers each day (Friday 6 June to Sunday 8 June) will receive a free AP Choc Chip Cookie made with single origin Madagascan chocolate. Gelato Messina will also be giving away 50 free scoops daily, and a live jazz quartet will set the tone on Saturday 7 June. Rounding out the celebrations is a limited-edition drop of S’WICH caps in two colourways, along with a special Golden Groves x S’WICH olive oil collaboration - because great sandwiches deserve great company.
For co-owners Jay Fink and Jordan Abram, S’WICH’s new location reflects the brand’s ethos. Jordan Abram, co-owner says: “Wunderlich Lane has such a strong sense of community and creativity - it’s a real cultural melting pot, and the perfect spot for our second store - S’WICH in Surry Hills. We’re so excited to become part of the neighbourhood and to welcome both locals and visitors to share what we do - quality produce, great music, in a space that feels like home.”
To celebrate the launch, S’WICH is teaming up with A.P. Bakery to evolve its bread offering, permanently adding a fenugreek & sesame sourdough to the menu. The Redfern menu also introduces new sandwiches and salads exclusive to Wunderlich Lane, shoestring fries with chicken salt, sweet potato fries with paprika salt, and a drinks list spanning natural wine, beer, and soda from local and international quality producers. . The space - designed by acclaimed Studio Shand, the creative team behind S’WICH Bondi - draws from streamline modern diners and space-age Italian design, featuring steel utility bars, saloon-style doors, retro-futuristic lighting, and a bold signature red palette wrapping the floors, walls, and ceiling. A 40-seat layout includes booths, bar seating, and a laneway-style al fresco section that invites guests to settle in and soak it up.
The design is further elevated by two artworks from Astrid Bell and a striking three-metre custom light sculpture by Newcastle-based artist Amy Vidler, known for her handcrafted, imaginative objects that blur the line between function and art. At the heart of the sensory experience is S’WICH.FM, an in-house curated playlist spun through a restored 1970s hi-fi system. As day turns to night, the music shifts - from Dire Straits to Theo Parrish, soft rock to Detroit techno.
S’WICH opens on June 6, 2025 and will be open 11am - 9pm, Monday - Sunday.
