Cunard’s Australian legacy
Cunard’s connection to Australia spans a century, beginning with the Albania’s first call in 1924 and the Carinthia’s role in establishing Australia on the World Cruise map in 1925. During World War II, Cunard liners were repurposed as troop carriers in Sydney, and in the 1950s, the line played a pivotal role in bringing thousands of British migrants to their new home. In modern times, the spectacle of Cunard Queens meeting in Australian ports has drawn thousands of spectators, while partnerships with iconic Australian brands and personalities—such as R.M. Williams, Akubra, Delta Goodrem, and Matt Moran—continue to strengthen Cunard’s deep ties with the nation.
