Final Section of Track Installed on The Big Banana Fun Park’s $5.8 Million Plantation Coaster!

The Big Banana Fun Park is excited to announce a major construction milestone, with the final section of track now installed on the highly anticipated Plantation Coaster, one of only two Wiegand Alpine Coasters in Australia.

This milestone marks the completion of the full ride circuit, bringing the project into its final stages of commissioning and testing. The Plantation Coaster will carry riders up to 12 metres above the ground, weaving through the landscape at speeds of up to 40 km/h, offering a brand-new thrill ride unlike anything else on the Coffs Coast.

“This is a huge moment for The Big Banana Fun Park and for the region,” said Michael Lockman, CEO of The Big Banana Fun Park. “Seeing the final track section go into place is an incredible achievement for our team and partners. We can’t wait to share this attraction with our locals, visitors, and the wider tourism community.”

“Reaching this milestone is incredibly rewarding,” said Scott Baxter, Development Manager at the Fun Park. “Working with a precision-engineered product from Germany, on terrain that could kindly be described as ‘challenging’, has tested every part of the construction process. But that’s all part of delivering something special for our visitors. We’re proud of what’s been achieved and excited for everyone to experience our new Coaster.”

The Plantation Coaster will officially open to the public at a Grand Opening event on Saturday, 13 December 2025, where guests will be among the first to experience the Fun Park’s largest investment ever and newest signature attraction.

Adding to the excitement, The Big Banana will be auctioning off the very first public ride, with 100% of proceeds donated to Camp Quality to support children facing cancer and their families.

“This project represents a significant investment by our shareholders and reinforces our commitment to growing The Big Banana Fun Park as a premier tourism destination,” said Lockman. “The Official Opening will be a major moment for Coffs Harbour, and we’re thrilled to share it with the community.”
