Game on! Live screens for World Cup fans at Olympic Park

Football fans heading to Saturday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup clash between England and Colombia at Sydney Olympic Park will be able to watch the earlier Australia vs France Quarter Final, with special screens to be set up to show the Matildas game.

The NSW Government has worked with event partners to provide screens at the Olympic Park precinct so that an expected crowd of 75,000-plus attending the 8.30pm game on Saturday can enjoy every pulsating minute of Australia’s do-or-die match kicking off at 5pm.

This is a special arrangement to broadcast the Matildas game for fans attending Stadium Australia and is not a live site for the general public.

The FIFA Fan Festival at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, will be open from 3pm until 11pm on Saturday 12 August, and will broadcast both Quarter Final matches live and free.

There is a range of public viewing events being hosted across Greater Sydney and NSW and fans are encouraged to check local advice or visit this snapshot of events on the Office of Sport website: https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au/fifawwc#public-viewing-events

Minister for Jobs and Tourism John Graham said:

“We don’t want any football fan to miss even a minute of the action in a tournament that has gripped Sydney and the world.

“This is a huge moment for sport in Australia and we expect all the viewing records to be smashed once again as Australia gets behind the Matildas on Saturday.

“This arrangement to put up temporary screens is a one-off solution to help ticketed fans to Colombia vs England and we still encourage people wanting to soak up the World Cup atmosphere to get to the main Tumbalong fan site or dozens of other local fan sites across the state."

Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:

“The buzz is electric and building by the day and we want everyone wherever they are watching on Saturday to get behind the Matildas and help them make more history.

“This tournament is massive for sport in Australia and right around the world and it’s unfolding right here in our backyard."
