Indonesian Jazz Maestro, Indra Lesmana performs at Manly Jazz Festival and Sydney Opera House to launch the new album “Sydney Reunion"
The renowned Indonesian composer, songwriter, and jazz maestro, Indra Lesmana returns to perform at Australia’s longest running jazz festival, Manly Jazz Festival on September 22nd 2024 and launch the new album titled “Sydney Reunion" in limited premium event at the iconic,
Sydney Opera House on September 23rd 2024.
“Sydney Reunion” album features Indra Lesmana on keyboards, Steve Hunter on electric bass, Dale Barlow on saxophone and Andy Gander on drums.
Steve Hunter, Dale Barlow and Andy Gander are some of the best musicians from Sydney, Australia who Indra knows and have been making music since 1982 when Indra lived in Sydney and studied at the Conservatorium of Music. Dale Barlow was involved in the Children of Fantasy project, Steve Hunter was involved in the Nebula group on the album No Standing which was released in the United States in 1984.
“Sydney Reunion" genred in jazz fusion also marks Indra’s 100th produced released album. It contain of 10 new instrumental songs and 5 of them written by Indra Lesmana. All songs recorded live in two days at Rancom St Studio, Sydney New South Wales, Australia in early May 2024. Indra did all the mixing and mastering in his own studio in Bali.
The single “Fairlight” as part of the album has already released in June 2024. The video of the live recording is also available on YouTube.
Indra Lesmana who is also Australian Alumni Award 2010 recipient explained: “ I am very happy and grateful to be able to continue working and making music with my long time friends in Sydney. The last time I played at Manly Jazz in 1982. To return, perform and especially introduce our new
album at the Sydney Opera House this September will definitely becoming a priceless historical moment. We really hope our musical collaboration can strengthen and inspire the music generations as this year we also celebrate the 75th anniversary diplomacy relationship Australia and Indonesia.”
Indra's music project is fully supported by Paulus Family Pty Ltd. which is owned by the Indonesian diaspora in Australia, Ivan Paulus and his wife Shirley Lim. Apart from being a successful businessman and economic actor in Australia, Ivan is also an advisor at the Indonesia Business Council (IBC) Australia and is also one of the executive producers on the Indra Lesmana album recording project in Sydney.
The album “Sydney Reunion" available on CD’s, and soon in digital platforms and double vinyl.
