Native Tastes and Ancient Trails - Announcing a very special Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk
The Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk (meaning “Old People’s Track) will be brought to life with a 4-day/3-night hiking experience that journeys through the ancient caldera landscapes of the Tweed Hinterland. This specially curated event will combine a wilderness hike with a culinary journey focusing on tastes from the Tweed and native ingredients. The walk itself is an immersive hiking adventure that fosters a deep connection with nature, a sense of adventure and a deep respect for culture.
We will journey through the traditional lands of the Widjabul Wia-bul and Minjungbal people of Bundjalung Country, home to the world heritage-listed Gondwana rainforests of Australia, with its diverse ecosystems and awe-inspiring beauty. This is a premium experience with professional guides and a focus on quality food, produce and beverages from the Tweed region as well as native ingredients throughout the entire tour.
Celebrated Bundjalung chef Mindy Woods will host our first dinner, preparing a meal using locally foraged native ingredients over her camp stove, accompanied by some insightful and meaningful storytelling, all under the stars at our first campsite. Mindy is a champion of Australian native foods and recently won the Championsof Change Award at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025. The culinary journey will continue throughout the trip with highlights including local fish gently poached in macadamia milk and seasoned with native spices, offering a true taste of country throughout the walk.
Our all-inclusive 4-day 3-night guided walks include transport, all freshly prepared meals and snacks, qualified wilderness guides and high-quality camping equipment. Carry only a day pack and have all your belongings are transported between campsites each day. When you arrive at camp everything will be set up, leave you free to simply relax and enjoy.
The extraordinary landscape boasts breathtaking ridgelines, pristine creeks and towering rainforest canopies. Expert guides help guests connect deeply with the region’s cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and awe-inspiring natural beauty. “The Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk is more than a bushwalk—it’s a journey through time and story, across one of the most ecologically and culturally significant landscapes in
