New Grand Cliff Top Walk Showcases the Best of the Blue Mountains

A seamless walking journey along the spectacular escarpment from Wentworth Falls to Katoomba is now on offer with the launch of the incredible, new multi-day Grand Cliff Top Walk in the Blue Mountains on Gundungurra Country.

The 19km, 2-day walk, delivered by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in partnership with Blue Mountains City Council, showcases some of the most majestic mountain scenery in Australia and allows walkers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park.

Walkers will experience amazing views over the Jamison Valley towards Mount Solitary, lush rainforest, beautiful waterfalls including Wentworth Falls and Katoomba Cascades, iconic Three Sisters Aboriginal Place, hand-built historic and restored sandstone tracks and lookouts, and diverse flora and fauna including possible sightings of lyrebirds and yellow-tailed black cockatoos.

The Grand Cliff Top Walk is best experienced as a 2-day walk, with a range of great nearby accommodation options, as well as cafes and restaurants, ready to welcome walkers to the unique mountain villages of Wentworth Falls, Leura and Katoomba.

For walkers interested in a self-guided multi-day experience, NPWS advises an 11km walk on day one, beginning from Darwins walk at Wentworth Falls and finishing at Gordon Falls at Leura. The suggested second day route consists of 8km of walking from Gordon Falls, past the iconic Three Sisters, before finishing at Scenic World at Katoomba.

The Grand Cliff Top Walk is an ideal introduction to multi-day walking with no heavy backpacks or camping gear required, easy public transport access at the track’s start and finish, as well as an array of accommodation and dining options to enjoy nearby.

Visitors can also ‘choose their own adventure’ and complete shorter sections including half-day or full-day walks, with many suitable entry and exit points along the route. A selection of guided tours is also on offer including multi-day packages or a NPWS ranger-guided 2-hour option for those wanting to sample a short section of the track.

As part of the 4-year Grand Cliff Top Walk project, NPWS built more than 4,000 steps and 10km of track, with the help of over 4,000 helicopter lifts, as well as upgraded lookouts along the route.

The walk will enable visitors to Blue Mountains National Park (the most visited national park in NSW) to connect with nature on high-quality, safe and accessible tracks, as well as support the local economy.

The Grand Cliff Top Walk is part of a network of 13 NSW Great Walks being established in NSW national parks to offer world-class bushwalking experiences for domestic and international visitors.

NSW Great Walks aim to provide people with more opportunities to spend time in nature for their physical and mental well-being, as well as build awareness about the environment and support for conservation.
