New Truffle Hunt Experiences at RedGround in Oberon

The high country of Oberon in Central NSW is becoming a premium destination for food lovers seeking hands-on gourmet experiences.

 RedGround Australia have launched a series of new truffle experiences that include hunting, tasting and getting immersed in nature at their picturesque farm.

 Unlike many truffle hunts, guests can unearth a premium truffle from the ground year-round - with help from RedGround’s Truffle hunting dogs - Sarge and Scout.

 The Winter ‘Truffle Hunt, Touch and Taste Experience’ includes truffle and infused food tastings by the fire in the lodge, an educational presentation on the secrets of growing truffles, a guided hunt through the truffiere with kneeling pads, an informative truffle grading workshop and learning how to cook with these delicacies – all over a glass of sparkling wine or two. The three-hour experience costs $220pp.

 With four different truffle varieties cultivated - including black truffle, summer truffle, burgundy truffle, and the rare small white bianchetto truffle - hunting at RedGround is available most of the year. Their truffle harvest has tripled in volume since 2022, and visitors are coming from across Australia and overseas.

 Visitors can also buy freshly harvested truffles, meticulously crafted truffle-infused oils, sauces, and condiments, plus various truffle accessories, shavers and graters.

 While you’re in Oberon continue your gastronomic journey:

• Mayfield Garden, Australia’s largest privately-owned, cool climate garden offers garden picnics or enjoy lunch at Mayfield Restaurant
• Essington Park features a cooking school with Simmone Logue and a series of art and creative workshops
• Taste boutique wines at Renzaglia Wines a family run cellar door, close by is also Vale Creek Winery, Fish River Brewing and Bathurst Grange Distillery
• The nearby Rockley Pub or O’Connell Hotel on the banks of the Rish River offer a hearty long lunch with local produce
