NSW GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN NSW’S FUTURE EVENT MANAGEMENT WORKFORCE
The NSW Government is supporting the future of NSW’s event industry by providing scholarships for aspiring event managers in partnership with Meetings and Events Australia (MEA).
The scholarship program will support seven up-and-coming event professionals to upskill by undertaking the Diploma of Event Management.
Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said the scholarships would support the future growth of the state’s visitor economy.
The NSW Government is growing the economy and making this state the tourism destination for people in Australia and overseas. Attracting people to the workforce is critical to achieving this goal and we are proud to be delivering these practical scholarships,” Mr Franklin said.
“These professionals will support the delivery of a robust events calendar in years to come that will drive visitor demand and generate visitor expenditure for Sydney and regional NSW.”
Meetings and Events Australia CEO Peter McDonald said the program would maintain and build excellence in the delivery of world-class consumer and business events across the state.
“The Diploma of Event Management delivered by Meetings and Events Australia is an industry designed and delivered qualification that includes training in the core competencies of the sector, from project and budget management to customer service and operational planning,” Mr McDonald said.
“These are the skills that our future event managers need to be successful and to empower the delivery of outstanding events in Sydney and regional NSW.”
Applications will close on Sunday 22 January 2023 and scholarships will be awarded to one successful candidate per Destination Network who meets the eligibility and assessment criteria.
