NSW Wine Month Program Unveiled: Sydney-wide celebration of local wine with events to savour, including Pop-Ups, Happy Hours, and Long Lunches

This November the NSW Wine Industry Association will be launching NSW Wine Month, bringing the best local wineries and winemakers from across the State to host a series of events in Sydney for wine enthusiasts and consumers.

Supported by Destination NSW and The Rocks, NSW Wine Month will be a four-week celebration of NSW’s 16 wine unique regions and the people that call them home.

Anchored around the flagship Sydney Cellar Door festival on 9-10 November on Tallawoladah Lawns in The Rocks, NSW wineries will be taking over the city and hosting a range of exciting activations, promotions and events in partnership with some of Sydney’s top venues, including tastings, degustation dinners, long lunches and happy hours throughout November.

In partnership with major sponsor The Rocks, Sydney Cellar Door will bring a taste of NSW’s wine regions to the heart of Sydney, showcasing the breadth, quality and diversity of wines the State has to offer. Free to attend, guests will have a chance to purchase branded tasting glasses and tokens to sample their way through the 40 different producers.

NSW Wine Month will see venues across the city participating in promotions that showcase NSW’s wonderful wine regions and wines, giving Sydneysiders the perfect excuse to choose local and rediscover their regional favourites. Top venues like Song Kitchen, Woollahra Hotel, The Porterhouse Hotel, ESQ @ QVB, Kelly’s on King, Radisson Blu Hotel and BOTTEGA Pendolino will all be running NSW Wine happy hours all month long.

Destination NSW CEO Steve Cox said: “Destination NSW is proud to be partnering with the NSW Wine Industry Association on the launch of the inaugural NSW Wine Month.

“NSW is not only the birthplace of the Australian wine industry, but it is also home to 16 unique wine regions, each offering something special.

From the Hunter Valley’s iconic semillons to Orange’s superb chardonnays, Griffith’s crisp pinot grigios, Mudgee’s velvety merlots, and the cool climate wines of the Southern Highlands, the diversity of terroirs and varietals across the state is unmatched.

“With tastings, winemaker dinners, masterclasses, and other events taking place throughout November, there has never been a better time to explore the incredible wines from every corner of NSW.”

NSW Wine’s Matthew Jessop said: “NSW is home to everything from the iconic to the emerging and NSW Wine Month is the perfect opportunity to remind Sydneysiders of just how many truly great wines there are on their doorstep. I encourage everyone to get out this November and meet the people behind their favourite wines, discover something new and exciting and support the bars and restaurants out there pouring fantastic local wines”.

With NSW wines making up only 12% of listings on Sydney wine lists, NSW Wine Month aims to serve as a moment for igniting conversation around the incredible variety and quality of wines available right on our doorstep.
