Orange Region extends the ultimate spring Wine Festival invitation

Regarded as one of the unmissable regional wine events, the annual Orange Wine Festival is a two-week (three weekend) celebration of all thing’s cool climate wine in the heart of Australia’s highest wine region.

From 17 October until November 2, the Orange Wine Festival will put on show the absolute best of the Orange Region’s cool-climate wines and promises an exhaustive program of stellar wine events. The region’s very own vignerons, winemakers and wine producers will host specially curated wine tastings, unique culinary collaborations, winemaking workshops,

“The Orange Wine Festival is a true celebration of the region’s premium cool-climate wines. Whilst wine is at the heart of the festival, it’s also an opportunity to explore the region and connect with the people and places that make this region so special”, said Rebecca Watson, Executive Officer of ORVA.

Opening with the Orange Wine Festival Night Market on Friday October 17, this local favourite always sets the tone for the festival. The region’s winemakers bring the wine, food producers and restaurants setup pop-up outlets, and a few thousand wine novices, collectors and everyone in between join in the fun at Robertson Park and celebrate the start of the festival under the evening stars.

Sip & Savour, another headliner of the Orange Wine Festival, dubbed the ‘ultimate wine tasting event’. Lucky ticket holders will work their way across the wine region of Orange, tasting the many medal and trophy winning wines from this year’s Orange Wine Show. Local winemakers will be serving and chatting about the nuances of their own wines and judges and vignerons will be on hand to host talks throughout this Friday evening event – opening the second weekend of the festival.

Nashdale Lane Wines, Printhie Wines, Orange Mountain Wines, Philip Shaw and Tamburlaine will back-up the next day as hosts of a series of private Vintners Tables - intimate wine events matching an exhaustive list of wines with menu selections driven by local produce.
“We’re proud to present the 2025 Orange Wine Festival program in 2025.” said Nick Segger, President of the Orange Region Vignerons Association With the return of crowd favourites like the Night Markets and elevated events like Vintners Table and the unmissable Sip & Savour plus many individual wine events – it’s such an exciting time to visit the region”.

Across the 16-day Festival, there is an experience to match every palate. The 2025 Orange Wine Festival program boasts nearly 40 individual events and collabs, hosted at cellar doors, in restaurants, bars, vineyards and barrel rooms. Many events are “festival only” listings – giving guests access to behind the scenes at wineries, special admission to barrel rooms and vat tastings and the chance to blend wine next to the experts.

New events and collaborations see the addition of the Hop on Hop off bus along the Cargo Road Wine Trail, a milestone celebration at the Festival of See Saw, local wine and food matchings inspired by French and Italian wine regions and international cuisines. Fun interpretational events include the Purple Pinot Party (Stockman’s Ridge), Ferment’s take on wines from different elevations ‘Pinnacle to Plateau’ tour, and a retrospective look at vintages, “Wines that Build Philip Shaw” and the Retrospective Long Lunch at Cargo Road Wines.
Ever popular events returning this year include the Ross Hill Long Lunch, Mortimers Wine School, the Millthorpe Mouthful (Angullong, Tamburlaine and Slow Wine Co.), Nonna’s Lunch at Highland Heritage and the Boree Lane Ramble.

Meet the wine makers at Blend it like RIKARD, Discover Dindima’s Shiraz, Blind tastings of unexpected wines and ciders (Small Acres Cider and Pride of Lunatics), Nashdale Lane’s Vine to Wine or Swinging Bridge’s celebration of Chardonnay. Join a wine picnic event amongst some of the region’s picturesque vineyards or private guided winery garden walks (Brangayne and Macquariedale) and orchard tours at Hillside Harvest.

The final weekend of the Orange Wine Festival coincides with Zest Fest, a uniquely Orange music event hosting major live acts and a headline performance from San Cisco, one of Australia’s most-loved indie-pop bands.

Named last year the New South Wales Number One (No1) Wine Region by Halliday’s Wine Companion, and the fourth in Australia, the Orange Wine Region has received many awards, trophies and 95+ star ratings for the wines produced in this high-altitude region.
Gaanha Bula – Mt Canobolas is the centre piece of the Orange Wine Region and provides not only distinct elevation variations but rich volcanic soils and expansive views of vines and country scenery. Home to more than 30 cellar doors and 80 vineyards, Orange Wine Region is thankfully an easy trip away from just about anywhere in New South Wales.

Orange Wine Festival organisers say, “It’s no wonder this region considers itself “A Drop Above.”
