Sculpture by the Sea for 2024 returns with 100 works from 103 artists.

Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi returns to the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk from 18 October - 4 November. The exhibition is the world’s largest free to the public outdoor sculpture exhibition with over 100 sculptures transforming the spectacular 2km coastal walk visited by 450,000 people over the course of 18 days.

The 26th exhibition will feature artworks by James Rogers, John Petrie, Stephen King and Paul Bacon who exhibited in the first Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi in 1997. Acclaimed Japanese artists Haruyuki Uchida, Keizo Ushio and Toshio Iezumi will exhibit, alongside nine other leading artists from Japan. 35 artists will exhibit for the first time, including artists from Switzerland to China and in continuing the support for Ukrainian artists, Yevgen Prymachenkon will exhibit a work.

Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi has been the world’s largest free to the public outdoor sculpture exhibition for over two decades, exhibiting more than 2,650 sculptures by artists from 51 countries. The majority of Australia’s leading sculptors of the last 50 years have exhibited, most numerous times, including May Barrie, Anne Ferguson, Geoffrey Bartlett, Bert Flugelman AM, Richard Goodwin, Fiona Hall, Inge King AM, Stephen King, Michael Le Grand, Louise Paramor, James Rogers, Ron Robertson-Swann OAM, Michaelie Crawford, Jennifer Turpin, Ken Unsworth AM and Hossein Valamanesh.

The exhibition’s international profile has seen some of the biggest names in international sculpture exhibit, such as Sir Anthony Caro, Phillip King CBE, Zadok Ben David (England), Sui Jian Guo, Chen Wen Ling (China), Kozo Nishino, Keizo Ushio, Haruyuki Uchida (Japan), Fletcher Benton, Peter Lundeberg (USA) and David Černý (Czech Republic).

This year, a small part of the Coastal Walk between Bondi and Marks Park will not be accessible due to a landslide earlier this year. The exhibition will be largely unaffected by the closure, though each weekend there will be a one-way system in place on the path at the Bondi end, heading south.

Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi is supported by Principal Sponsor Aqualand, Destination NSW, Create NSW and donations from the people of Sydney. Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi will run from 18 October – 4 November 2024
