Sydney Place expands dining line-up with three new openings
Sydney Place has welcomed three exciting new venues to Circular Quay, adding more variety to the cultural and dining destination with the opening of Japanese onigiri specialist Mogu Mogu, Gang Thai, and beverage bar Miss Coconut.
From handmade onigiri to rich Thai curries and refreshing tropical drinks, the newest vendors cater to a wide range of tastes and dining preferences. Together, they reflect Sydney Place’s commitment to showcasing affordable, diverse, and high-quality food experiences for customers - right in the heart of the CBD.
Karin Ragel, Head of Asset Management at Lendlease, said: “Mogu Mogu, Gang Thai, and Miss Coconut each bring a new and diverse experience to explore, broadening Sydney Place’s offerings and adding to its curated collection of Sydney’s best places to dine. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch, a cool beverage, or settling in for a relaxed dinner, there’s something for everyone.”
Having already built a loyal following in Surry Hills, Mogu Mogu brings its hand-shaped onigiri to Sydney Place. The triangular-shaped rice balls come with 15 different fillings including: salmon and umeboshi; vegan miso eggplant; and creamy yuzu pork belly. A premium selection of onigiri is made to order, including MS9 wagyu beef simmered in sukiyaki sauce, and lightly torched Hokkaido salmon with fish roe. Drinks include matcha and hojicha lattes, as well as Hokkaido milk and uni matcha soft serve - exclusive to Sydney Place. The minimalist interior, designed with natural elements, promotes a calming atmosphere and showcases the brand’s motto: ‘a small triangle with a big heart,’ representing their dedication to nourishing body and spirit while fostering community.
“Our goal with Mogu Mogu has always been to create more than just a place to eat - it’s about sharing comfort, culture, and community through something as simple as a hand-shaped onigiri,” said husband-and-wife co-founders Alen Ng and Janny Sy. “Opening at Sydney Place is a meaningful step in our journey, allowing us to share our take on traditional onigiri with a broader community, in a space that celebrates everyday joy and the simple pleasure of good food made with heart.”
Gang Thai brings the soul of Thailand’s bustling markets to Sydney Place, offering a menu that balances traditional flavours with a modern edge. Prepared with high-quality ingredients, the offering includes rich curries, fragrant stir-fries, and popular street-style dishes. Signature items such as pad thai, pad see ew, yellow curry chicken, and chilli basil fried egg reflect the bold and distinctive flavours Thai cuisine is known for. In-store self-ordering kiosks allow customers to customise their meals, browse the menu, and order quickly. Designed for both dine-in and takeaway, Gang Thai also offers a daily happy hour from 3pm–8pm, with a selection of beers starting from $6.50.
Joining the precinct, Miss Coconut is a lively beverage bar serving a range of all-natural smoothies, juices, and milks. Made from Thai Nam Hom 100% pure coconut juice and flesh, each drink is crafted to order. Menu highlights include the strawberry coconut smoothie and matcha strawberry coconut milk, both full of flavour. With no added gelatine, no artificial colouring, and many dairy-free options, the drinks offer hydrating properties, are rich in electrolytes, and support skin health and digestion. Miss Coconut also serves dessert options, including the signature Coconut Paradise with handmade ice cream, and the Coconut Jelly Duo.
Sydney Place is one of the city’s most vibrant precincts - a place to eat, explore, and savour global flavours. Located on Ah Toy Lane, Mogu Mogu is open Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm; Gang Thai, Monday to Saturday, 10am–8pm; and Miss Coconut, Monday to Friday, 11am–8pm.
