SYDNEY TAKES THE GLOBAL STAGE WITH A SUPERCHARGED EVENTS CALENDAR
Sydney is set to welcome its biggest ever calendar of music, art, culture and sporting events this spring and summer through to 2023, with a never-before-seen line-up of global events that will supercharge the visitor economy by attracting visitors from all over the world.
With its glittering coastline, coupled with its iconic attractions, welcoming and vibrant energy and unmissable events line-up, Sydney is reinforcing its status as the number one events destination in the Asia Pacific.
Kicking off the season with landmark sporting matches bound to draw global attention – Sydney sets the stage for crowd-roaring moments at the NRL Grand Final, FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, Sydney Super Cup, UCI Road World Championships, T20 ICC World Cup 2022 and Spring Racing Carnival.
Visitors will need to pack their 24-carat dancing shoes this October as international music sensation Bruno Mars performs two exclusive Sydney-only concerts at the recently opened Allianz Stadium.
Moving onto November, Sydney’s arts and culture will be front and center with the Opera on Cockatoo Island and the highly anticipated opening of the Art Gallery of NSW’s Sydney Modern, before Sydney welcomes visitors from across the world for Sydney WorldPride, Vivid Sydney and SXSW Sydney later in 2023.
Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said that this Saturday is the springboard for a jam-packed major events calendar for spring and summer.
“Sydney’s summer of major events will bring millions of visitors into our state and deliver over $500 million of visitor expenditure to the NSW economy,” Mr Franklin said.
“We are delivering on our promise to make NSW the major events destination of Australia and giving people the opportunity to witness the best athletes, artists, sportsmen and musicians right here in Sydney.”
“Our summer of major events will grow the NSW visitor economy, create jobs and secure a brighter future for our state.”
