TCS Sydney Marathon Expands to Full Week of Running

The 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS is set to be bigger than ever, with the return of the TCS Sydney Mini Marathon on Saturday, 30 August, and the TCS Sydney Marathon 10km on Sunday, 31 August.  In response to the surging demand for participation, the event will now span an entire weekend, giving more runners the chance to be part of this history-making occasion.

Entries for the TCS Sydney Mini Marathon and TCS Sydney Marathon 10km will open at 10am AEST on Wednesday, 16 April and are expected to sell out fast, following last year’s record-breaking demand.

TCS Sydney Marathon Race Director, Wayne Larden, said the additional events provide the perfect opportunity for runners of all ages and abilities to be part of history, as Sydney prepares to host its first-ever Abbott World Marathon Major this August.

“We’re incredibly proud to expand the TCS Sydney Marathon into a full weekend of running in 2025, in response to the incredible demand and growing popularity of the event. Running has become a true community movement, uniting people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and we want to create more opportunities for everyone to get involved.

“Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family or cheering from the sidelines, there’s an energy and sense of connection that makes this event so special. Expanding to two days allows us to celebrate that spirit on an even bigger scale.”

The TCS Sydney Mini Marathon will feature a newly designed 5km course, starting on Macquarie Street and finishing at the iconic Sydney Opera House, giving participants a taste of the marathon finish line experience, ahead of the main event.  The course has been thoughtfully redesigned to weave through the CBD, taking in iconic landmarks such as St Mary’s Cathedral, Hyde Park, the Art Gallery of NSW and the Royal Botanic Gardens, creating a more engaging experience for both runners and their supporters.

With improved access for spectators and multiple prime viewing points, the new route is all about celebrating runners of all ages, new runners or walkers and will deliver a memorable race-day atmosphere.

With the TCS Sydney Mini Marathon taking place on Saturday, this creates an ideal opportunity for runners of all abilities to participate and for marathoners to enjoy a high-energy, pre-race shake-out run ahead of race day.

The popular TCS Sydney Marathon 10km will return to its spectacular course on Sunday, 31 August. Taking place after the marathon start, the 10km race offers the perfect option for those seeking a shorter challenge while still soaking up the electric atmosphere of marathon day. With one of the most scenic short-distance courses in the world, participants will start at the marathon’s famous North Sydney Oval start line, before travelling across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, hugging the Sydney Harbour foreshore through Barangaroo, past Sydney Observatory, before the final stretch across the Cahill Expressway with views to both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, and concluding at the Conservatorium of Music, finish line.

Entries for the TCS Sydney Mini Marathon and TCS Sydney Marathon 10km will open at 10am on Wednesday, 16 April, with both events expected to sell out quickly following last year’s record-breaking numbers.  Visit www.tcssydneymarathon.com to register.
