A new trail through ancient rainforest - Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk now open
The Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk, meaning 'Old People’s Track' in the language of the Widjabul Wia-bal people, is a newly opened 42-kilometre multi-day hiking trail in the Tweed Byron Hinterland, traversing ancient volcanic landscapes and the lush Gondwanan rainforests of Mount Jerusalem and Nightcap National Parks, as well as Whian Whian State Conservation Area. Experience breathtaking vistas and diverse ecosystems that sustain countless native flora and fauna. Designed for seasoned hikers, the Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk can be experienced as a self-guided DIY experience or as a fully catered tour with knowledgeable local guides that can take care of everything for you - booking ahead for all of these options is a must!
Ben Quilty's Archibald Prize-winning portrait of Margaret Olley finds a new home at Tweed Regional Gallery
A beacon for artists and art-lovers, the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre is set to launch a captivating new addition with the acquisition of Ben Quilty's Archibald Prize-winning portrait of Margaret Olley. Alongside this influential portrait of Olley, and on public display for the first time, will be eleven new still life paintings by Quilty that pay homage to his friend and mentor as part of the Painting Life: Margaret Olley and Works from the Collection exhibition, on from 15 June until 31 August 2025.
Be the first to see these new works and the stunning Olley portrait at a gala event being held at the Tweed Regional Gallery on Saturday 14 June, with artist Ben Quilty in attendance. As well as showcasing the close friendship between Quilty and Olley, the gala event will shine a light on The Tweed's food and drink provenance, with sips by Husk Distillery, Ventura Kombucha and Earth Beer Company, bites by on-site restaurant Apex Dining and prizes from Chef Hatted Tweed River House and Kat Harvey Cheese.
St Barts Brings Coastal Chic to Cabarita Beach
St Barts, the luxe bohemian lifestyle store known for its curated collection of fashion, furniture and homewares, has opened a new location in Cabarita Beach along the Tweed Coast. Situated in Cabarita's friendly seaside village, the new store offers a refined selection of global artefacts, artisan homewares, designer fashion and bespoke furniture. Drawing inspiration from the relaxed elegance of the Caribbean coast, St Barts is a unique shopping experience that blends coastal charm with sophisticated style. The Cabarita Beach store is open daily from 10am to late afternoon.

Savour The Tweed Returns This Spring - Save the Date!
Savour The Tweed, Australia’s favourite new regional food and drink event is back this year after an impressive inaugural event in 2024. Running over five days, Savour The Tweed celebrates culinary excellence from the ground up, with a host of curated food and drink events that spotlight fresh-grown goodness while showcasing The Tweed's remarkable culinary scene, from farmers and producers to distillers, brewers and award-winning chefs and restaurants. Expect more of everything in 2025 and mark the date in your diary now - Wednesday 22 October to Sunday 26 October.
Seas the Day: Surf, Sisterhood and Sunshine in Kingscliff this June
Seas The Day, the world’s largest women’s surf festival, returns to Kingscliff Beach this June, shining a light on women’s empowerment through surfing, wellness and community connection. Last year’s event drew over 12,000 spectators and nearly 300 competitors, making it a standout on The Tweed's event calendar. Hosted by Surfing Australia, the festival invites women of all ages and skill levels to participate in inclusive surf competitions, including the popular tag team challenge. Beyond the waves, Seas The Day also offers a program of workshops, inspirational talks and wellness experiences, including the return of seven-time world champion Layne Beachley’s Awake Academy.

Bistro Livi launches Saturday brunch
Award-winning Bistro Livi, known for its produce-driven share plates and intimate setting in the heart of the Art Deco town of Murwillumbah, has just made every brunch-lover's dreams come true, bringing its signature flair to Saturday mornings. The new brunch menu at this Chef Hatted neighbourhood restaurant celebrates seasonal Northern Rivers ingredients with thoughtful, elegant and sumptuous twists - think comte and chive omelette or smoked mackerel and pickled celery paired with a bloody mary, fresh coffee or pressed juice. It's official - Uki's Bastion Lane Espresso brews Australia's Best Latte
Bastion Lane Espresso in Uki has celebrated a major win in the nation's coffee stakes, taking home the Champion Latte trophy at the 2025 Royal Adelaide Coffee Show. Their award-winning Post Master’s blend - rich with chocolate, hazelnut and subtle citrus notes - secured first place in the highly competitive show, impressing Australia’s coffee elite. Housed in the restored 1909 heritage-listed Uki Post Office, Bastion Lane Espresso roasts, blends and brews the finest ethically-grown Arabica beans, establishing itself as a magnet for coffee-lovers from all over and a daily go-to for locals.
Fins Restaurant's new Weekend Brunch with bottomless mimosas
Kingscliff's Fins Restaurant, one of Australia's most awarded regional seafood restaurants, is now serving an irresistible weekend brunch, featuring bottomless mimosas and delicious dishes, such as Moroccan baked eggs, Bali banana pancakes and a brunch bowl of organic greens and soba noodles, as a start!
