Today marks 10 days to go until the second edition of the new-look United Cup, the exciting innovative mixed team tennis event across Sydney and Perth, from Friday 29 December to Sunday 7 January 2024.

Showcasing equality at the highest level of the sport, the world’s top-ranked tennis players will play side-by-side.

Ahead of the second edition of the United Cup, former world No. 26 Australian tennis player Casey Dellacqua and Tournament Director Stephen Farrow, took the prestigious United Cup trophy for a climb up the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Standing at 50cm tall and weighing 14.5kg, the hand-crafted trophy features 36 rods, which represent the 18-country mixed doubles partnerships, each shaped by hand.

Eighteen countries will contest the United Cup with each city to host nine teams, three more than 2023. Each team will comprise up to three men and up to three women.

Each city will host three groups of three countries, competing in a round robin format.

Sydney will feature world No.6 Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE), world No.7 Alexander Zverev (GER), world No.9 Maria Sakkari (GRE), three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber (GER), world No.11 Casper Ruud (NOR), Felix Auger-Aliassime (CAN), Donna Vekic (CRO), Borna Coric (CRO) and Leylah Fernandez (CAN).

In Perth – the nine teams in Perth are - Group A (Poland, Spain, Brazil), Group C (United States, Great Britain, Australia) and Group E (Czech Republic, China, Serbia).

New for 2024 - each tie will be determined in one session and will include one men’s singles and one women’s singles match featuring the No.1 ranked singles players, followed by one mixed doubles match.

Singles matches are best of three tie-break sets. Mixed doubles matches are two tie-break sets with a deciding match tie-break (10 point) at one set all

Perth’s RAC Arena will host the first day of the United Cup on Friday 29 December, with the group stage in Sydney beginning on Saturday 30 December.

Group winners in each city will advance to the quarterfinals with one quarterfinal spot in each city awarded to the best runner up in that city.

Winners will progress to the semifinals and finals in Sydney, which will be played on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January.

The United Cup, an ATP-WTA event presented in partnership with Tennis Australia, offers a minimum AUD $15 million in prize money and 500 Pepperstone ATP and 500 WTA Tour rankings points.
