Make the most of your summer with new experiences and openings across NSW. There’s an adults-only retreat in the bush, hot new pizza in a sleepy seaside village, a new cafe to recuperate in post-Blue Mountains hike and a series of new mountain bike trails. So, where will it be?

Glasshouse beauty

An exclusive adults-only retreat in the Tweed hinterland, the Avion Retreat offers a modern glasshouses with panoramic views from every room of the The Pinnacle and Border Ranges. Set on 160 acres, privacy abounds, and the property is fully off grid, with solar power and rainwater tanks. An outdoor bath completes the romantic experience.

Berry’s spirit house

Berry’s local gin house, Tara Distillery, has opened a new tasting room and bar for visitors to gain a deeper appreciation for their Shoalhaven-inspired spirits. Visitors can enjoy a tasting flight; sit down with a curated cocktail; shop for a bottle of their gin, vodka, limoncello or coffee liqueur; or even join a cocktail masterclass.

Pizza in paradise

South Coast beach town Thirroul has a new pizza restaurant that takes pride in being as local as possible. The owners of Ciro’s Pizza have developed a signature sourdough base made with premium Australian flour, and use all locally sourced or homegrown ingredients and housemade fermented veg.

Lunch with a view

In partnership with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services, The Conservation Hut Café has opened at Wentworth Falls. The hut has been a rest stop for hikers since the 1960s and now serves all-day Aussie breakfasts or cocktails with uninterrupted views of Jamison Valley.

And, breathe

Exhale Yamba is a modern bathhouse and spa in Yamba, opening in December. The wellness spot offers rich mineral spas, steam and infrared saunas, and timber-clad, single-person ice baths. Other bookable services include remedial massage, holistic bodywork treatments and biodynamic craniosacral therapy.

Thrills in the South

Good news for mountain bikers: Gravity Eden Mountain Bike Park has opened in Nullica State Forest on the South Coast. With 58 kilometres of trails spanning a remarkable 300-metre elevation, there are rides for every level of skill.

Trail upgrades at Macleay Valley

Kalateenee Mountain Bike Park in South Kempsey has been upgraded. Mountain bikers will love the five revitalised enduro trails, plus a new car park, toilet facilities and accessible amenities, allowing people to relax, refresh and recover before hitting the trails.
