The Newcastle Surfest will take place at Merewether Beach and will be the first stop on the 2025 World Surf League Challenger Series. Running from 2 June to 8 June, the event will showcase local and international surfers battling head-to-head for a qualifying position on the 2026 Championship Tour. In 2025, Surfest will be celebrating its 39th anniversary as the largest surfing festival in the Southern Hemisphere. Surfest not only highlights competitive surfing but also emphasises community engagement and celebrates surf culture.
