Sydney has already proven to be the biggest hit amongst cricket and sporting fans of all seven ICC Men’s T20 World Cup host cities. With just weeks to go until the first teams take to the crease, well-known sports stars have taken part in a special T20 “Biggest Hit” activation on spectacular Sydney Harbour today.

World renowned for its beauty and icons – the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House – Sydney Harbour was transformed into the ultimate cricket field with sports stars and celebrities lining up to show their batting prowess and see who could hit a cricket ball furthest into the harbour.

Australian Women’s Cricket team member Alyssa Healy, one-day cricket legend Michael Bevan and former NRL player and Fox League commentator Michael Ennis were among those who walked up to the crease at the Man O’War steps for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the ultimate Sydney Harbour cricket pitch.

Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said there was no better place than Sydney to take in the action of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. 

“Sydney has a long history of hosting world class events. The energy of the city, the vibrant culture and diverse experiences provide the most exciting backdrop for the tournament,” Mr Franklin said. 

“We are delivering on our promise to make NSW the major events capital of the Asia Pacific and giving locals and visitors the opportunity to witness the world’s best athletes right here in Sydney.”

Six Super 12 matches, including Australia's opening match against New Zealand on Saturday 22 October, plus a Semi-Final match on Wednesday 9 November, will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney as part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Cricket fans are encouraged to purchase tickets before they sell out. Tickets are accessibly priced with kids tickets available from just $5 to all Super 12 matches and adult prices starting from $20. Tickets and more information can be found at t20worldcup.com
