The team at the Cupitt's Estate is excited to announce they have won three medals including a Gold for their Milton Pilsner, Silver for the Hazy Pale Ale and Bronze for the 2021 Imperial Stout. at Australia’s Independent Beer Awards (The Indies).
Head Brewer Liam Jackson says:
'We've been under the pump in our brewery to keep the beer flowing coming into summer, so it came as a fantastic surprise to see our beers do so well. The quality overall of craft beer in Australia has continued to improve, year on year, and continues to do so, which makes these medals feel all the more rewarding that we are keeping up with the best of them. I am also proud of the variety of beers that we received medals for. We are not a “one-trick brewery” - whatever beer we make, we strive for excellence, which really is what we aim for across the board at Cupitt's Estate. We pride ourselves on producing consistently excellent beer, so it's a real honour to receive these awards, and we think reflective of our dedication to the craft”.
The Gold medal for Milton Pilsner in the lager category is an exciting win for the Brewery. 'We have been committed to producing beers that reflect the region that we are in. We are proud to have developed a style of Pilsner that is refreshing and crisp reflective of the lagers found in Germany.’
The accolade for the Milton Pilsner follows its placement last weekend in The Australian 'Peter Lalor's Top 20 Beers'.
The medals came from a record number of entries, totalling 1389 beers from 180 breweries. It was the largest ever Indies Awards.
There were a number of setbacks related to the Pandemic and border closures so it's a feat that the IBA judging and awards took place. It’s the second year the awards have been live-streamed from all corners of the country, due to COVID uncertainty. This year it broadcast from 10 official live cross parties around Australia, and other celebrations in taprooms and bars throughout the country.
To sample some of the medal-winning Cupitt's Estate beers you can purchase online or in the Cellar Door which is open 7 days from 11am - 5pm.
You can re-watch the ceremony in full on the IBA YouTube channel.
