Prepare to be captivated. From Sydney’s Circular Quay to the rugged Outback and the island and alpine mountain peaks to picturesque verdant valleys, these inspiring experiences are truly unique to New South Wales. Book in these sensational options for an escape that will leave you completely re-energised.

Go backstage at an icon

Be wonderstruck by taking a tour of the renewed UNESCO Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House. Architect, Jorn Utzon showed incredible foresight, nearly 50 years since the grand opening, the icon is still a symbol of modernity. On the reimagined tour, watch moments of magic from past Concert Hall performances, and be one of the first to experience the future within the new purpose-built venue boasting state-of-the-art surround-sound technology. After the tour, sit down for lunch or dinner under the sails at Bennelong where Australian produce and wine take centre-stage.

Wake up to an artist's view

Could there be a more inspiring vista? Experience the sunrise over the verdant valley at world-renowned landscape artist Arthur Boyd’s 1000-hectare estate, Bundanon in the Shoalhaven. Built on land gifted to Australians by the Boyd family, the new architecturally designed sustainable Art Museum is one of the nation’s most significant cultural institutions. Tour the museum, hike the bush-walking tracks, enjoy a meal onsite then retreat to your room at the onsite Bridge accommodation built from blackbutt timber, a giant window framing the view of wombats, kangaroos and the glorious Shoalhaven River. Remember to pack your paints and easel.

Soar over a World-Heritage listed landscape

Take in the spectacle of the otherworldly lunette known as the Walls of China on a scenic flight over World Heritage-listed Mungo National Park in Outback NSW. The contrasting colours of this 30km-long formation made of sand and clay is best seen from above. Flights depart from Mungo Lodge Airstrip and circumnavigate the dramatic formations sculpted by wind and erosion. Afterwards, take a tour of Mungo National Park tours with a local Aboriginal guide, this ancient area holds great significance to the local Indigenous people.

Practice yoga with the ultimate view

Start the day off with an energising salute to the sun and breathe in the crisp morning air on a retreat with Jindabyne Yoga Shala. The three-night stay comes complete with an ayurvedic menu, gentle stretching at sunrise and sunset yoga, a sound healing session, and a silent walk up Mt Gulaga. There’s free time to refresh with a lily pond swim or just take in the surrounds. Guaranteed is the feeling of total rejuvenation that will remain long after returning home.

Sleep under the stars in the world's second largest canyon

Fully immerse in nature by staying the night under the Milky Way in an inflatable bubbletent in the Capertee Valley. Here, in the second biggest canyon in the world (grander than the Grand Canyon), the off-grid glamping see-through domes offer incredible views to star gaze. Want a closer look? There’s a telescope on hand. Choose to soak in the wood-fired outdoor tub as the sun sets, and the light changes across the formations. The bubbletents are nestled on a 400-hectare working farm between Lithgow and Mudgee, 200 kilometres north-west from Sydney.

Hit new highs at Lord Howe island

Feel the exhilaration by undertaking one of Australia’s best hikes, trekking to the peak of Mount Gower on World Heritage listed Lord Howe Island. Known as Lord Howe’s Everest, the guided 8-hour climb to the 875-metre-high summit affords spectacular views across the azure blue lagoons and kentia palms. Overhead, between March and November, thousands of migratory providence petrels fly, letting out a primeval call. After conquering Mt Gower, rejuvenate in the awe-inspiring Lidgbird Pavilion at Capella Lodge and take in the view of the island’s other renowned mountain.
