Travelling to Sydney with your pet? You’re in luck. Sydney is one of Australia’s most pet-welcoming cities, offering a wide range of accommodation options that cater to both two-legged and four-legged guests. Whether you're planning a luxurious city escape, a beachside retreat, or a quirky boutique stay, there’s a perfect spot waiting for you and your furry companion.

Kimpton Margot – Sydney CBD

“If your pet fits through the door, we’ll welcome them in,” says Kimpton Margot. Located in the heart of the city, this art deco hotel provides plush pet beds, food and water bowls, and a concierge list of nearby pet-friendly spots. Doggy waste bags are also provided for your urban adventures.

Ovolo Woolloomooloo – Harbourfront Charm

Set on the world’s largest timber-piled wharf, Ovolo Woolloomooloo combines heritage architecture with modern flair. Pet stays include treats and amenities, though dogs must be leashed in public areas and are limited to two per room. It’s a stylish choice with harbour views and easy access to scenic walks.

Pier One Sydney Harbour – Waterfront Elegance

Located under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Pier One’s Water View rooms offer direct pier access, premium pet bedding, and even an in-room dog minibar. Pets are welcome in outdoor dining areas, making it a great choice for those who want to stay close to the city’s iconic sights.

The Ace Hotel - Surry Hills

Tucked into a beautifully restored heritage brick factory on the edge of Surry Hills and the CBD, Ace Hotel Sydney blends modernist design with the creative spirit of its vibrant neighbourhood. But it’s not just a haven for design lovers, it’s a dream stay for dog owners, too. The Ace rolls out the red carpet for four-legged guests, offering cosy pet beds in every room, along with food and water bowls on slobber-proof silicone mats.

QT Hotels – Bondi & CBD

QT Hotels go all out for pets. Rooms feature botanical grooming products from New Zealand’s smith&burton, gourmet treats by St Argo, and orthopedic memory foam beds by CUB. Their “Strut Your Pup” guide highlights local walks, parks, and cafes. Pets under 25kg are preferred, but larger dogs are welcome with prior notice.

Hotel Indigo Sydney - Potts Point

Part of the Accor group, Hotel Indigo offers pet-friendly rooms designed for easy access and comfort. Many are located on the ground floor, perfect for morning walks. With open spaces and thoughtful amenities, it’s a great option for travellers who want a relaxed, inclusive stay.

The Langham - CBD

Pet-friendly may not be a description you’d first associate with the ultra-regal The Langham, Sydney, near Barangaroo in the city centre. Yet along with its plush interiors, a private tennis court, an indoor pool with an amazing painted dome and the serene The Day Spa by Chuan, it happily allows you and your furry charge to co-habit during your stay. Rooms are set up with a dog bed and eating bowls, there’s an in-house dog-friendly menu, and if you fancy letting yourself off the lead to hit the town, dog-sitting services can also be requested.

Embrace the freedom of the outdoors

Once you’ve checked into one of Sydney’s dog-friendly hotels and your furry friend has sniffed every last piece of furniture in your room, you’ll want to head out to explore the city as quickly as possible. Brace yourself for ever more urgent tugs on the leash as you approach the shoreline at one of Sydney’s dog-accessible beaches, including off-leash stretches of sand in the Eastern Suburbs and Northern Beaches. Or soak up spectacular views as your pet meets and greets some of the local hounds on a long walk along one of the city’s stunning coastal tracks or bushland trails, many of which allow dogs.

Let your dog run free and make friends at the expansive Sydney Park in the Inner West suburb of St Peters, a 20-minute drive from central Sydney. Or check out Centennial Park, which has dedicated over 30% of the Parklands to off leash areas, making it one of the largest off leash areas in Greater Sydney.

Eat, drink and be amused by adorable puppy antics

You’ll find a plenty of dog-friendly places to eat and drink across the inner city. Your pup will be in doggie heaven in Sydney’s Inner West, where there are hordes of hipster hounds to meet. After promenading along Newtown’s colourful King Street shopping strip, head to nearby Camperdown Memorial Rest Park for an off-leash adventure before refreshing with an ale in the beer garden at The Courthouse Hotel, across the road from the park, where dogs are ”always encouraged”. Follow the dog-walking locals to the canine-conducive beer gardens at The Henson, a classic suburban pub in Marrickville, and The Erko in Erskineville, where your pup can chow down on a doggy menu that includes raw beef tartare and homemade Erko dog biscuits.

Make your dog’s day with lunch in the courtyard at Henry Lee’s in Redfern, where puppy treats are served alongside the café’s signature colourful dishes. Or head over to the Duck Inn pub in Chippendale, a hip neighbourhood near Redfern, where your dog can stretch out in the rear beer garden as you refuel with lunch from the pub’s well regarded kitchen.

With thoughtful amenities and welcoming policies, you and your pet can enjoy a memorable holiday together. So pack the leash, grab the treats, and get ready to explore Sydney, tail wags guaranteed.
